  1. The problem in Costa Rica is that the education is so good that most of them have implide the english language. Also, most private schools are in english.

  2. We have a volunteer position open teaching English to locals, free of charge.

Its a very good way to learn Spanish and help at the same time.

    Check out www.alajuelacampground.com

    for more info.

  3. There are lots of nice ones depending upon the kind of experience that you want to have.  Schools tend to be cheaper in San Jose and there are often more opportunities to speak Spanish in San Jose than in tourist areas.

What school is best depends upon what your learning goals are.  Some schools combine Spanish with other types of courses or with volunteering or internships for instance.  Others do not.

Any reputable language school will give you rnames of past students that you can contact.

In San Jose my favorites are ICADES and the Costa Rican Language Academy (there are others that are just as good).

Outside of San Jose I like CPI  (Centro Panamericano de Idiomas) which is in Heredia, Monteverde and Playa Flamingo.

In general beach areas are not good places to learn Spanish because all of the bars and the beach are full of English speakers.

There are several other good ones it is just that I do not have personal experience with them..
