  1. Why not adopt one from a shelter of Japanese Spitz rescue group instead. I'm sure you will find what you are looking for, and you will be saving a life at the same time! It's a great feeling!

  2. Here's a link to the parent breed club, with breeder referrals.  No one in the state you mention- but you can write and ask to see if anyone can point you in the right direction:

You could also consider an American Eskimo....the breeds are almost identical and quite similar in temperament.  They are easier to find, too.

Also, do a search for both breeds on Petfinder.com, and consider adopting one?  Good luck :)

  3. Here's the Japanese Spitz Club of America website, but it looks like the closest breeder is in Tennessee.

  4. 10 million animals are euthanized in shelters every year.  By patronizing a breeder you are contributing to that cycle.  Contact your local shelters and let them know what you are looking for or looking on-line for a rescue group for japanese spitz or try petfinder.com and put in the exact breed you'd like.  Won't your new dog love you that much more for having saved it's life.

  5. Why don't you rescue from a Japanese Spitz rescue? You'd be saving a life and getting a dog that is just as great.

I know some of these dogs aren't listed as "japanese spitzs" but that's because the breed isn't a choice for posters. They can only use "spitz" but I took the liberty of selecting the ones that I am sure are Japanese Spitz by following the breed standards.

This one is an American Eskimo dog but VERY cute and her background is sad ..

This one's a German Spitz, but they are almost identical breeds and he is gorgeous so I just had to post this link:

This is why you should rescue:

There are more than 4 million dogs killed every year because there are too many, so it's always better to save one than add to the overpopulation. I'm not saying all breeders are bad, there are some reputable breeders that care about the breed, but it is still much better to rescue a dog that is in desperate need of a home.

  6. Look at the AKC site under breeder refferal.
