  1. Yes it is a scam. It was widely reported on television about a month ago.

  2. Please pitch all the information that you have on this scam, and do not send any money.  You are correct; it is a scam.

  3. This is a very popular crime. It is a total scam??  How often do you play this lottery?  As with all the fraud claims I have had to process, you probably have never played this lottery.  Do not cash the check, it will come back unpaid.  I have seen people lose thousands of dollars.  Remember, it it is to good to be true, it probably is.

  4. It's a fairly common scam.  In the process of "verifying your eligibility" they get enough information to steal your identity and perhaps get you to send some money for these "fees".  Then, the check they sent will bounce and the business that issued will cease to exist and the owner was using a false identity.

  5. If you win a lottery that you did not enter, it is a scam.  If you are promised a large amount of money but you have to provide bank or Social Security information or pay money first, it is a scam!  If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is.

  6. Its a way to phish for your bank account info. Appears legit , you deposit it, bank processes it and next thing you know it bounces and your account is empty. Your personal funds are gone and you owe for the $2950.00. Went thru this with my mom who wouldn't believe me. Took her to her bank and they opened a separate account just for this check and tracked the activity to prove the scam to her. She is 85 and gets a least one scam a week in the mail from predators. Talked to the Ohio AG who says he can't get them because they are outside the country and besides its illegal in Ohio to collect foreign lotto winnings.

  7. Wouldn't you think it's odd that you won a lottery that you never even entered.  That's called a clue.

  8. This sounds like a common scam. You will send off an amount of around $50 or so for fees and they will allegedly give you the $2,000,000. However they will most likely pocket your $50 and run. Just tell them to take the cost of fees out of the $2 million or however much it was.

  9. It's a scam. They will tell you to deposit the check, and then send them a sum less than 2,950.00 to pay the "clearence fees". The victim figures he or she has nothing to lose; the bank then honours the check if the victim's credit is good,  before it bounces in a couple of days and the victim is on the hook to the bank for whatever amount of money he/she sent back to the grifters.

  10. This is a scam! Call the local police and tell them about it. They may even want of copy of it for their files. DON'T, please don't, SENT ANY MONEY TO THESE PEOPLE!!

  11. Do a Google search on "scam, check, lottery" without the quotes in the search box ... you'll get some results
