Anyone know of any good pensions in Germany?

We're going to Cologne, Munich and Nuremburg. If youve been and stayed in a cheap "pension" (one step higher than a hostel) let me know where and what kinds of things you would suggest doing in these cities! Thanks!

  1. www.hrs.de  is best in Germany ... will you travel to beautiful Hamburg as well? It is my favorite city in Germany.

  2. When you want a 2 bed room with private facilities then pensions are often cheaper than hostels...hostels are only cheap when you take a 8 bed room or so! I often book by:

    http://www.booking.com/searchresults.en....

    and there's a lot to do in Köln:

    http://www.koeln.de/en/index.html

    and Munich:

    http://www.muenchen.de/home/60093/Homepa...

    and Nuremberg;

    http://www.nuernberg.de/internet/portal_...

    don't forget to visit the polar bear baby Flocke in Nuremberg zoo!;-)

    Here are other good booking companies:

    http://www.hrs.com/changeLanguage.do;jse...

  3. Try looking out for "Hotel Garni" +[name_of_city] on google.com or .de. The Garni "hotels" are mostly family-run pensions with very reasonable prices. Make sure you use the correct German spelling, such as "Nürnberg" for Nuremberg, "Köln" for Cologne, and "München" for Munich.

    Type it exactly as I wrote, including the quotes and the plus sign.
