Question:

Anyone know of any good vegetarian recipes or veg stores?

my parents told me they wouldnt eat anymore meat if i really took the time to find some good recipes, or find some stores with real good veg food. so thats what im doing. =]

ps: stores should probably be in ohio. lol

  1. Whole Foods Market is a great grocery store with lots of vegan choices. They have lots of milk alternatives and meat alternatives and organic fruits and veggies.

  2. hi i have a recipe hope you enjoy it.

    SPICY POTATOE PATTIES.

    Boil & mash potatoes

    Fresh corrianer

    2 medium onions

    1 teaspoon chillie powder

    1 teaspoon Cumin seeds

    1 teaspoon Ground Corriander

    2 handfull of chana daal(yellow lentils) optional

    spring onion(optional)

    oil to to fry

    Salt/ pepper to taste

    1 egg

    2 teaspoon corn flour

    Mint sauce

    3Tbsp fresh yogurt

    3 green chillies

    1 clove garlic

    Fresh Mint or jar mint

    mix in blender

    salt(optional)

    Boil potatoes with skin add salt cook until soft, then mash potatoes slice onion finely add corriander,cumin & ground spices, salt / pepper to taste.  whisk egg with fork add corn flour and mix leaving no lumps. Make 10-15 small patties using mixture dip in batter , heat oil and shallow fry turn over and cook other side.

    Serve with ketchup or mint sauce

    Chick pea Curry

    200g Chick peas

    2 large onions

    1 tsp Cumin seeds

    1 Tomotoe

    1 Green chilli

    1 tsp Garam masala powder

    Salt/ pepper

    3 Tbsp Olive oil

    Fry onions in oil until light brown add cumin seeds then add tomatoe and cook adding drops of water add green chillies and spices cook for futher 5 mins adding water.  Finally add chick peas cook for 5-8  mins add 2 cups of water and boil until curry cooks peas should be nice and soft.

    Garnish with fresh corriander.

  4. I am also a vegiatarian in Ohio, my dad works at a grocery store called Trader Joe's, which actually has a bunch of organic vegitarian food.

    But most grocery stores have lots of vegitarian things In the frozen section under health food.

    Morning star and Boca (food brands) sells tons of veggitarian things like

    *Veggie Dog

    *Boca burgers

    *Vegitarian Riblet

    *Vegitarian Chick'n Nuggets

    ^Easiest to find at Giant Eagle

    If you can't find them in Giant Eagle just ask a worker for help, because I am positive they should have it.

  8. For recipes, check out www.vegweb.com.  It's not totally veg, but www.recipezaar.com has some pretty good vegetarian and vegan recipes.

    Check out cookbooks from Sarah Kramer and from Isa Chandra Moskowitz.  Robin Robertson's "The Vegetarian Meat and Potatoes Cookbook" is good for those transitioning or in search of hearty veg food.

    For restaurants and natural foods stores anywhere in the world, check out www.happycow.net and www.vegdining.com.  If there's a Whole Foods, Wild Oats, and/or Trader Joe's in your area, all three are pretty good at providing vegetarian options.

    There are also a lot of vegan online retailers where you can buy analogues.
