Anyone know of any great places in or around Cozumel, Mexico to visit?

Question

Next week I am leaving for a week vacation in Cozumel. I have been numeous times; however this time, my boyfriend who has never even seen the ocean (beleive it or not) is coming also. I really want this to be a trip both him and I never forget! I have seen and done many of the typical toursits attractions like scuba, snorkel, visit Chichen Itza, Tulum, Chunkanab (sp?), take the ferry to Playa del Carmen, swim with the doliphins, ride horses through the jungle, as well as ATV's. I'm looking for something different, something not so "touristy", something out of the ordinary to do. We are not afraid to venture in land and are both very adventurous! Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

How about spending a romantic night at the Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve.See link below.

There's no shortage of great things to see and do on the  Peninsula but you will have to venture beyond the Cancun /Cozumel/Mayan Riviera Gringo Corridor.

Valladolid,Ticul,Campeche and Merida are all cities worth your time to visit.The caves & underground caverns, (thought by the Mayas to be the entrance to the underworld), and the dozens of Maya ruins collectively known as La Ruta Puuc (The Puuc Route) are also good choices. Uxmal,Kabah and Labna alone are worth the trip.See link below and click on the green arrows for photos of Uxmal.You can do it yourself by rental car,public transportation,or with a tour service from Merida.

You can book a tour to chichenitza.  It's about a 5 hour bus ride through the jungle but it is really worth the trip.  You can climb to the top of the pyramid.  It is wonderful!
