I am interested in becoming a pen pal with a former Khmer Rouge employee.

They say that if all your family members survived, then you were Khmer Rouge.  My mother lost 5 children and her brother to the Killing Fields.  The stories she told were heart wrenching...Babies thrown in the air and shot at or speared, loved ones murdered right in front of you and if you shed a tear you die too...There are videos of interviews on YouTube though they are extremely painful to watch.
