I am 27 male and starting to notice a slight thinning in my hair. My brother is 6 years older and pretty thin on top. I want to do everything I can to prevent it from getting worse. I heard that boiling sage in water and letting it soak on your head can help. I also have heard of nioxin. Anyone know the most effective way to prevent hair loss?

  1. Natural Ways to restore hair

    Acupuncture

    Acupuncture to the scalp is regarded as a safe and painless way to reduce and regain hair loss. With acupuncture to the scalp, the goal is to increase the blood flow to the head. By increasing the blood flow, the damaged cells in the head and scalp will repair. As damaged cells repair, the growth of new cells can take rise. As you may have guessed, the growth of new cells increases the likelihood of new hair growing.

    Although not everyone is willing to stick needles in their body to heal a specific area, acupuncture has become widely accepted throughout society. Aside from being a complimentary hair loss treatment, it can also be used to release tension and help relax muscles throughout your body.

    Homeopathy

    The search for natural alternatives to treat hair loss aims to find alternatives for conventional pharmacological measures, since these often have extreme side effects. One of these alternatives is homeopathy - it can be termed a natural route because this medicinal system utilizes distillations of organic substances. Homeopathy has several treatment modes for addressing hair loss. A qualified homeopath’s arsenal of remedies includes fluoric acid, lycopodium, kali carbonicum, kali sulphuricum, natrum mur, phosphorus, selenium and tissue salts. What a homeopath actually prescribes depends on the problem’s nature and severity.

    Results from the homoeopathic approach can take a longer time, but they are very often dramatic. Effective treatment of hair loss with homeopathy depends on accurate dilution ratios. In other words, it is not a ‘do-it-yourself’ option.

    Aromatheraphy

    Aromatherapy has been used successfully by some people to treat thinning hair and bald patches. The aroma blend is massaged into the scalp for two minutes each night, and then the scalp is wrapped in a towel, to increase absorption of these oils.

    The essential oils suitable for treating alopecia include ylang ylang, roman chamomile, rosemary, lemon, lavender, grapefruit, and bay. Try this blend of oils:

        * 3 drops of lavender

        * 3 drops of rosemary

        * 2 drops of thyme

        * 2 drops of Atlas cedar wood

    You can’t put essential oils directly onto the skin or scalp, they have to be mixed in a carrier oil. Use a half a teaspoon of jojoba oil and 4 teaspoons of grapeseed oil. Mix them all together and rub this mixture into your scalp for at least two minutes. Use a warm towel to wrap your head in afterwards. Not only does it feel relaxing, but it helps the oils absorb.

    Natural remedies

       1. Aloe Vera: Indians, Native Americans and Caribbeans have used Aloe Vera to promote healthy hair and prevent hair loss since ages. Aloe Vera balances the pH of the scalp and heals from within. It is also helpful in cleansing the pores. A general remedy of Aloe Vera gel with coconut milk and small amount of wheat germ oil used as a shampoo has shown great benefits. Aloe Vera surely helps you stop hair loss.

    Homemade remedies and tips

        * Tame your frizzy hair by rubbing coconut oil into your hands and applying sparingly onto your hair. You don’t want to overdo it - too much will make your hair look greasy. Shampooing your hair less frequently also helps with the frizzies. Excess shampooing strips natural oils from the hair.

        * Rinse your hair with baking soda and water to rid your hair of shampoo build-up and styling residues. Rinsing your hair with one juiced lemon and one cup of water is said to bring life and shine back to dull hair. Apple cider vinegar mixed with water will give your hair shine and bounce.

        * Add essential oil of ylang ylang to your shampoo, conditioner and styling agents as a hair rejuvenator and to stimulate hair growth. Add patchouli to your shampoo if you have oily hair.

        * Rosemary is an effective hair tonic and condit

  2. shave all your hair and you don't have to worry about losing it any more and its healthier for your scalp.

  3. Nioxin works very well, i'm about to buy it for my husband who's your age with the same prob. One important key is massage your scalp daily as much as possible. Either yourself or have your wife or g/f do it. This brings blood flow to your hair and promotes hair growth. Second is you Biotin. It's a natural supplement found in the vitamin department. It's great for growing hair and nails. Hope this helps!

  4. I think it is your 2nd question about the same matter. Therefore the 2nd answer by is

    Best natural way for the treatment of hair loss or stop hair loss is use of the product which has no side effects.

    I recommend alternative medicine for its great curative properties.

    Herbal and natural remedies in general and hair loss remedies in particular are a far cheaper option than the modern medicine. They are simple to prepare and you hardly ever need he highly expensive professional supervision for their use.

    The most important fact about alternative medicine is its solution oriented approach contrary to the problem oriented approach of scientific medicine. Diseases result from a complex interaction of multiple derangement of body system. The alternative medicines are generally combination of numerous ingredients which work on different levels with different intensities and tend to solve the problem at every level. The benefit is hence more complete, more logical and more lasting. Where as scientific medicines are generally single ingredient which targets only a small specific component of abnormality. No wonder their effects are general temporary.

  5. The thing is with treatments and nioxin etc an people who 'swear by them'  how do you konw how thin you'd be if you didn't use it.

    The best answer i can give you is stimulation

    massage your scalp especially at the points where you're thinning.

    male pattern Baldness is hereditary, you usually get it from your Mum's Dad, the gene that is.

    I have 3 brothers, 46, 44, an 42, the 46 year old has more hair than the younger 2 put together haha

    Limit the wearing of Caps and hats too.

    My younger two brothers have always worn helmets at work!!!

    Good luck!

  6. I hear horse manure does the trick.

  7. you don't have to prevent it. and you cant prevent it. Hair loss is part of the nature of life. all what you have to do is accept it.

  8. i have the perfect solution...

    cut your hair very short

    especially on top where is thinning

    it will make you look younger and it will be a new look

  9. Sadly, it's pretty much strictly genetics. You can try over the counter things like Rogain, and I hope it works for you, but those products do not work for everyone. And most of the time, hair growth products, when they work, don't just produce hair on the head. They just cause your body to produce more hair. Wherever hair is produced. Just to warn you.

  10. Jon, One of my college roomates started loosing his hair last year. After several different herbal, homebrew, and who knows what from the internet, he finally chose to visit a hair loss center. Initially he was nervous to go becasue he was scared it would cost too much, but he learned a lot from the free consultations. After 6 months he is finally starting to regain some hair. I wish I know exactly what treatment he is using, but maybe you could call a local clinic. http://www.hairlossandtreatment.com
