Women take more sick time and vacation time.  Maybe that's why they live longer but make less money.

The theory of more women choosing lower paying jobs, part time jobs and taking on less work in general seems sensible and would explain the wage gap.  However, it is difficult to find these statistics for some reason.  I would think it should be fairly easy.

You know what, I could only find one site that even gave data that was remotely close to an answer to this question. Unfortunately the data it gave was 15-20 years ago. http://eh.net/encyclopedia/article/whapl...

Interestingly enough almost every bit of information I found was from either and entirely male-oriented site completely hellbent on proving their point OR and entirely female-oriented site that had decided to do the same thing.

I couldn't find much reliable and credible information.

You mean because fathers like to play father on the weekend?  Why women end up sacrificing their careers because men refuse to do so?  Because women are still stuck doing most of the childcare and household duties?  Because men won't do their fair share of work in the home?
