Anyone know the meaning of complacement with regards to a ship?

I am thinking you mean "displacement" and it is the weight of water the vessel displaces when it is put in the water.

A displacement hull is a boat or ship that is pushed through the water, a planing hull is one shaped so that with enough horsepower it can actually get "on plane" or partially out of the water.
