    i think it was 'the city of god'. I would say that your question is referring to what is known as 'the free will defence'.

    I never paid much attention to theology although I am vaguely familiar with his ideas from looking into different perspectives on free will.

    My conclusions are that free will is a fallacy but I shan't bother boring you with the details.
