Back in the mid eighties, Honda (I believe) made a type of street legal, three wheeled trike. I don't know what its displacement was (but it wasn't large), it had a single, low slung seat close to the ground with small diameter wheels.

A kid in High School had one and it's driving me nuts that I can't find out what kind of machine it was. Anyone who knows, thanks!

  1. are u sure that it was stock from honda or was it a kit. Inthe 80s there were kits in the back of magazines that u could adapt to small bikes.

  3. I guess you could call it a trike as it had 3 wheels. The Honda Gyro was more of a scooter, with the rear wheels really close togther and it pivoted in the rear leaving the rear wheels straight up and down at all times. 10 points please.

  4. well i don't really know but go to google and put in 1980 honda 3 wheeler and thats i could say

  5. If you are chasing down the Honda Gyro scooter side, these are 50cc scooters, 2 speed automatic trans.

The first model to the US was the NN50, 1984 only, looks sort of like a Honda Spree from the front, but has 2 wheels in back. Engine exhaust and trans all between the rear wheels, beneath a cover just a little higher than the tires. As previously stated, there is a pivot between the engine, so the rider can tilt in turns, but the 2 wheels stay firmly planted.

The second model to the US was the TG50 (1985/1986), a 'chopper style' trike. It's the lower and sportier than the NN50, with a wider rear tire track. Front has no leg shield, and high rise chrome handlebars. Engine side has a big exposed muffler, styled to look like a tuned exhaust.
