Anyone know what cavalry charge on the front of the board game risk is meant to be?

I wanted to get a poster of it and I have seen paintings of it but cant find out what its supposed to be!

  1. The image you refer to probably is from the painting "scotland for ever"  (see links).

    It represents a heavy cavalry charge by the British forces at the start of the battle of Waterloo.  It happens that one of my ancestors provided many of the horses represented. The painting of the charge is also recreated in the 1970 film "Waterloo".

    It has been available as a poster, print and as a 1500 piece jigsaw.


  2. I believe the image on the front of the UK version of risk is based on the painting "Scotland Forever" by Elizabeth Thompson, Lady Butler painted in 1881 which depicts the charge of the Royal Scots Greys at the battle of Waterloo.

    The original is in the Leeds City Art gallery.

  3. I'm not sure but look at anything related to 'The Charge of the Light Brigade'.
