I live in the northeast United States. The flower itself is orange (maybe slightly reddish) with a tiny bit of fuscia (maybe purplish) in the center. It has anywhere from five to seven petals, and the entire flower is only 3/8" in diameter at maximum. The leaves are a darker green, and usually only 1/4" to 1/2" in length or width. It grows very low to the ground, spreading outwards in stems, and the older leaves on the plant turn reddish before turing brown.
It is not a Scarlet Pimpernel. I searched the net for pics that looked like this flower and the closest match was a Scarlet Pimpernel, but they don't grow here and this plant is much much smaller.
