  1. Kaiseki and it literally means "stone in the bosom", and refers to a practice where Zen monks would ward off hunger by putting warm stones into the folds of their obi. The term came to mean a light vegetarian meal served after a tea ceremony served with honey dew melon, possibly referring to the simple meals that monks ate which staved off hunger as much as a warm stone did.

  2. wintermelon soup

  3. Miso

  4. Japanese soups are called miso soup  miso shiru.(みそしる)

miso is made from bean curd.

    shiru means soup, broth, stock.

Now I don't know about cooked in honeydew melon. Maybe the chef was been fancy, maybe they ( Japanese) created something interesting soup that I've never seen....

  5. Can you describe the soup a little more?

    Noodles or not?

    Sweet or savory?

Also, where did you have the soup?  USA, UK... etc.

The melon is just a generic way of making a fancy presentation.  I don't think it's done in Japan this way.
