I use RailPlanner Web which is at http://www.travelinfosystems.com/product... and then click on "For a live demonstration Click Here".

It is very fast, and quick. Also tells you the trains stopping pattern before and after you get on/off. It also tells you the non public stops. Its also updated daily.

Goto the Local TOC's own website if they have one. The normally have the train companies timetables in Pdf style on there so you can check them.
