Anyone know whats going on with Ryane Clowes contract situation?

The last thing I heard was that he had an agreement with the Sharks on money but they were working out the length of the contract. The Sharks only have 1.3 million cap room left and they have to sign Clowe and Plihal. I don't really care about Plihal but we gotta get Clowe back. Anyone know whats going on?

Clowe has just completed a three-year-deal signed in June 2006 that was worth US$1.625 million and ended in June 2008. The contract was a two-way deal for all but the final year. He is currently a Restricted Free Agent.

yahh i heard the same thing too but that was over a week ago. omgg i know they need to bring him back, hopefully they will have a contract soon with the sharkies ;)

Last I heard they were working on re-signing him, but I have not heard any new news on him in about a week.

i read that they hit a "verbal deal" when Clowe was injured last season, but it seems DW and Clowe's agent are in a standstill because DW wants it near that verbal deal price, while his agent wants more and of course doesn't believe in verbal deals(and is probably waiting for an offersheet to pressure DW to go higher). If anyone offers more than 2.6m i'd take the draft picks(a 1st and 3rd round pick, probably by a team that will get us a top 10 overall pick), and simply try to replace him with a UFA signing or a trade(possibly including mclaren in the trade, as his salary seems too high for what he offers)
