because the tricks are the same but how a rider tweeks it out is subjective. the point value for a specific trick couldn't  be consistent from rider to rider making it impossible to really put a mathematic value that would stay the same for everyone. EDIT seriously, it is. it was that way with freestyle snow skiing in its early years with the regular Olympics.
