You'll most likely be able to find a copy of Dungeons & Dragons at your local comic book store.

If you don't a local comic book store, you can check out Barnes & Noble or Border's Books for a copy.

Alternatively, you can a copy of Dungeons & Dragons online (like Amazon.com).

Wal-Mart probably won't carry it.  Too many ignorant parents screaming about how it's "The Devil's Game," and teaching kids to summon demons.  Idiots.  There's more how-to on demon-summoning in the Bible.

Your best bet is to try a specialty games shop, or specialty book store, one that specializes in fantasy and science fiction. If they don't carry it, they may be able to offer suggestions on where you can find it.

Pretty sure it's not gonna be Wal-Wart unless your talking about maybe a dvd movie or Video Game. But if your talking about the real game. the new 4th edition just came out. You can find it at most book stores in the malls or something like Barnes and Noble. There are tons of web sites. just search for it. Or try Ebay.

If you want the cheapest option, you can download from online pdf stores like the one in the link below. (I don't think they carry 4th edition yet, though.) Then you can print out what you'd like to have handy.

If you want a printed copy, though, your best bet is your local game store. Try googling "game store" and "D&D" together with your city name.
