Anyone know where I can find a fingerprint identifier...?

Hey,

I was wondering...

I currently own a business that deals with the selling of tobacco and Alcoholic beverages and was trying to think of a way to speed up the ID process, so I got this idea...

Are there any devices out there that would allow me to store fingerprints [at LEAST 200+] with some simple information, such as:

[Somebody walks in, buys a beer, and is in the process of ringing it up] So I ask him to put his index finger on the scanner and show me his ID,

and after I verify his ID, I can input into the device somethine like : T=Yes B=Yes [depending on the age, T=tobacco and B=Beer].

I hope you all know what I'm trying to get at here?

ANY device with capabilities such as this are what I'm looking for. I considered purchasing a Cell-phone with similar features, but a cell phone is very easy to steal and would not last long.

Thanks in advace for any help you guys may have, and please I need to know soon!

  1. only police and the FBI have  what you need

you can't buy it in stores

  2. Biometrics is the wave of the future.  There are fingerprint readers out there, but they are mostly around as a secondary security measure for computers.  It'll only store the fingerprints of about 5 users, and a fingerprint scan recalls the appropriate password and sends it to the computer.

But tell me, how many people would be willing to give a store a sample of their fingerprints?  And those of us that work in the government and have our fingerprints on file...we might have an issue of your store having our fingerprint and thus access to our work building.

In theory, it's a nice idea.  But wouldn't the law require you to card them anyway?

Now, I have a better idea.  I once went to this karaoke bar, and he slides your driver's license in a card reader.  That tells him whether you can come in or not.  Maybe you can get your hands on a device like that instead...so instead of having to read the ID, you can just slide the card.
