Anyone know where I can find the older style round cake pans with easy slide lever built into the pan?

  1. I haven't seen these sold new in years. Have seen them in second hand stores but usually pretty rough looking. Using shortning and flour is all I ever do and have no problems.


  2. Don't even know if they are sold now.  Got mine in a thrift shop...two sets actually.  Good luck

  3. You can sometimes find them at a thrift shop, or an estate sale. You're better off with a set of Wilton straight edge pans. Line the bottom with two layers of wax paper. Do NOT grease the sides!

    The cake will climb higher in the pan and have less of a lump in the middle. The sides will be easier to frost.

    When you take the cake out of the oven, simply run a sharp knife around the edges and then dump the cakes out onto a wire rack to cool. Place the bottom layer right side up, add frosting (after completely cooled) and put the top layer upside down. You will have a lovely flat surface to frost and decorate.
