Question:

Anyone know where my husband can get a FREE bid sheet for Construction?

My husband just got his contractors license and is about to put in his first bid (for both labor & materials). He will be bidding on the drywall (hang & finish), all the interior doors, demolition and the metal studs. Does anyone have one or know where we can print one for Free? Also, besides the obvious, anyone have any 'pointers' on what to say on the bid? We are willing to look at any and all recommendations.

Thanks

Also, do you tax labor or just materials?

  1. If you have MS Word, click the office button in the top left corner, click new, and when the new page appears, type in construction bids or any other documents you might need.  Good luck.

  2. Most companies that have those recognize the need for them and charge for them. I have looked for free ones online and struck out so I just developed my own

  3. Check out some general business software for estimates guarantees, etc or just make your own on your home computer.

Also include how long the quote is good for.

You dont want somebody coming back in a year and agreeing to your proposal after prices have changed.

Make it good for 10 days or 15 days etc.

    Whatever you are comfortable with.

Another idea is an estimated time of completion after work begins just so everybody is on the same page.

Give yourself some extra room when you estimate it

If you get done early that looks even better.

Just dont go too long or someone elses bid may look better.

    How do you want paid?

1/2 when your 1/2 done? etc.

  4. ok, he should just price out the material....with tax.........then figure the labor.....add the 2 together and add 15 % for profit...and no u dont tax labor.......

    on the bid:

just list what work he intends to do...in detail

dont give price per line.....just a turn key price!

    lic. gen. contractor
