Anyone know where the last name Mauricio comes from?

I just wanna know something about this last name its mine and I have no clue where it came from.My grandmothers dont know anything and I feel like Im trying so hard to figure out a past. Anyone have a site? Or clue,Im in Texas and we arent from Mexico lol I just assumed that

  1. In the 1900 census, anyone with this name who lived in Texas, show that their origins are in Mexico.  There are several families, and yes, they have children born in the 1880s in Texas.. but the parents originated in Mexico.

    If you want to be sure.. you have to use the name of a known grandparent (grand father) who was born before 1930, and we can locate him in the census. It will include his place of birth, and his parents.

    I do find other families (in other states) with the same last name, who show origins of Italy or Portugal. Your line could be from one of those, but moved to Texas since 1930.
