It's Andrews but was originally McAndrews when kicked out of Scotland many, many years ago. I think it might be German.

  1. This is what www.ancestry.com has to say about the name,

    McAndrews Name Meaning and History

Scottish and Irish: variant of McAndrew with the redundant addition of English patronymic -s.

    hope this helps.

  2. This site might help you understand more about your McAndrew roots and the history of your name. Whereas it's possible you could have some German from a female somewhere along your line, the name itself, and therefore your father's lineage, is Scottish.

  3. The Highland clan MacAndrew left Scotland mainly for Canada during what is known as the Highland Clearnaces when landlords (mainly English) moved crofters off the land to make room for sheep pastures.  That's why there is a reference to being kicked out as most did not leave their tenancies  willingly.

    This reference should help.

  4. Well I have

    Harris and Elsender

Elsender -- Comes from somewhere in Greek and means Lovely Of All

And Harris --- Is from Scotland I dont no what it means

  5. Its from Scotland and has various forms:  Andrews, McAndrews, MacAndrews, McAndrew, M'Andrews, etc.

As far as I know they were not "kicked-out" of Scotland.  Some just immigrated to America.
