If you're a member of VHI they offer quite cheap multi-trip insurance.

If you're in a trade union your union might offer it. I get worldwide annual travel insurance for 65 euro through my union.

get a credit card from any of the big firms.travel insurance comes as a standrad freebie .you got the insurance without paying  a penny..........is that cheap enough??.good luck
