Anyone know why??

I have a merc cruiser and the tilt will work when it is not hooked up but when you put it to the lower unit it will go down but not up as far as it should ??? why

i would check fluid level, bet ya a donut its a little low...

Sounds like your fluid is low. When there is no resistance the unit works like "normal" but then you put the load of the engine on it, it wont work because it cant build up pressure to lift the engine.

It could be the fluid, how about the trim limit switch?

Don't confuse trim with trailer mode. two separate buttons.

on the outdrive unit there are two adjustment dials that control up and down movement. have someone at the console to operate the tilt button and someone at the lower unit to check the dial on the outdrive. they are marked for the proper location.
