What you are looking for is a "Sportschützenverein" and not a Schützenverein.

The second one the "Schützverein" is an old traditional marksmen's association that organizes an annual traditional festival celebrated in the Northwest regions of Germany as well as in Bavaria.

The first one:  "Sportschützenverein" is where you can practice shooting as sport.
