My other laptop's keyboard mapping got screwed. When I press "i" it says 5, when I press "k" is says 2, etc. I check "regional and language section" under control panel. It's currently English (US).

What happened was that I tried to install PSX emulator and assigns some keys to my game controller (which is a PS2 controller with a USB extension). Since then, my keyboard is acting wierd. I tried some keyboard remapping software. Didn't work. Those softwares says my keyboard "i" is still assigned to "i". Does anybody know how to fix it?

Please let me know. I'm thinking of replacing window's keyboard mapping file but I don't know how and it's too risky.

my OS: XP w/ service pack 2

emulator that got me messed up: PSXe 1.6.0

keyboard remapping software that I tried: KeyTweak

Help me out if you know how.

  1. If it is not function as expected for only short time frame, say a week, uninstall the keyboard emulator, do a system restore, you should be ok.

OR May be you want to uninstall the PSXe keyboard emulator first and try keyboard mapping software made by Microsoft? it is called MS keyboard layout creator

    Here's the link http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/detai...

    Hope this helps.
