Anyone knows how to read a prescription?

Question

My right eye's power(sphere) is -5.25

and my left eye's power is -5.75

I just wonder which eye is worse? I mean, does a bigger number means a worse eye? or does a smaller number means a worse eye? I'm assuming my left eye is worse, is it right?

Like Doc Rick said, your left is worse, but not by that much. There is only a small difference between your eyes.

The higher the number of the correcting lens, the weaker that eye.
