  1. Early March the Sales season is over. Some stores still have a few racks with items that are the left over of the sales, but chances are, they are not very nice. If you want to avoid the area around the Duomo (which is touristy, but also very frequented by the locals) try Corso Buenos Aires and Via Torino.

The Navigli area is great for restaurants.

  2. i would say go to the mall to shop... they always have something new and you can always meet new friends there to.

  3. I live in Milan: best shops: Guess, Armani, D&G, Valentino, H&M, Zara, Miss Sixty, Prada...

  4. best places to shop are H&M, Zara and max and co they are not so well known to tourists very popularr over there though....yes the shops are open on sundays, non tourists restraunts are harder but you wil always come across a lil restraunt here and there the best shops in milan are around the area of IL DUOMO the big famous church i went there 2 months ago so yess the shops are still there....have fun when u go....

  5. I was in Milan last March. There weren't too many tourists at that time, and Milan is not such a tourist city as Rome or Florence anyway. I didn't really see any sales and I can't tell you specific names of stores or restaurants, but if you want non-tourist places, stay away from the Duomo and the Fashion quarter.

We spent most of our time walking around and exploring the neighborhoods. A good one is the Naviglio District.  In medieval times, a network of navigli, or canals, crisscrossed the city. Almost all have been covered over, but two -- Naviglio Grande and Naviglio Pavese -- are still navigable. Once a down-at-heel neighborhood, the Navigli district has been gentrified over the last 20 years. Humble workshops have been replaced by trendy boutiques, art galleries, cafés, bars, and restaurants. Check out the antiques fair on the last Sunday of the month. It's also  the place to go for nightlife.
