i'm heading to school later and my friends all carry a knife around( well not at school).streets of Boston are dangerous especially were i live. ill be coming and going through the subway on weekends for my tennis practice. My friend recommended that i should carry a knife only in case of someone attacking me. So whats the regulation on carrying a knife in Boston? You think any teens going anywhere should carry a knife?

  1. What kind of knife are we talking about here? Like a cleaver or just a one of those flip blades because I'm pretty sure they are both illegal to carry. You can always get a permit for a gun...  If it is for self defense ONLY then I guess but don't blame anything on me if you get in trouble.

  2. Ask the Boston Police by calling their non emergency number.  That way you know for sure.  The trouble of doing it if it is not legal is too big to risk getting an answer that may not be completely true. While you are calling ask also whether you can legally have pepper spray or such.   The spray would probably be more effective because the knife would be in your pocket.  You'd need to get it out, open it etc. Pepper spray you can carry in your hand with your finger on the button .  Besides good pepper spray is more disabling than a small knife.   One question if you want this for protection going to and from school how do you plan to do that without having it AT school?  Most schools have a very strict zero tolerance on anything that could even remotely be called a weapon and having it in a locker at school is almost without doubt against that as much as having it in your hand.  Also find out the policy at the tennis place.  (Btw a tennis racket applied with force between the legs makes a fine defense.)
