Anyone knw how long it takes to recive ur bith certificate if u order it by mail.?

and what if you go in person can u get it like faster? and do i need a passport to get the passport card or can i just get the card?

A birth certificate, the time would be determined by the local jurisdiction. You would need to contact the local office where you were born for a timetable. For the passport card you do not need a passport to obtain one. If you already have had a passport it can make the process go faster. If you have never applied for either, or are in need of both, they have a lower fee to do the passport and the passport card together. Just remember the passport card is not valid for travel by Airplane or outside the Western Hemisphere.

You don't need a passport to travel by land to Mexico at this time. You do need an original or certified birth certificate and Government issued photo id. Starting January 2009 passports or passport cards will be required for travel for land borders.
