You will Like it my dear .. It's a Very Beautiful Place

  2. Muslims and Christians do not live happily together. Coptic Christians are regularly persecuted for their faith. I would advise caution and do not travel alone.

Egypt  is rich in culture and history but it certainly is not the land of big fluffy bunnies that the other answers are trying to paint.

  9. I have in Egypt in the past before I got married. It is truly an amazing country. You will enjoy your time out there. Just be sure that you will have enough cash to last you.

  10. Hi, and you're welcome to Egypt any time.

When u arrive call me and I can show u around ;)

  11. It's probably very different from where you are now...

As a country it has a lot to offer - many beautiful resources both natural and manmade - like incredible sites, amazing history, stunning deserts and gorgeous beaches.

Pollution and over population in the main city areas are big fat negatives but somehow it makes one appreciate the better places more and gives us all something else to complain and campaign about.

You will learn how to be able to live well and live frugally as life in Egypt is relatively very reasonable.  I like that we are not a nation obsessed with money - please compare the Egypt questions here with the UK questions and you will be amazed. You will also be able to do some real good for the world and please remember to do that when you are here.  The opportunities to give and make a difference in whatever way you can are all around you...

Egyptians live and enjoy life and they are very very very resourceful.  I respect the fact that this is not a wasteful nation and have every faith in the sustainable development projects taking place here quietly and am sure they will bear much fruit here in the future.

You will probably socialise most in your ex-pat social circle but please please think laterally and make as many Egyptian friends as you can too.  It's such a shame when people come here and live in an expat box - this behaviour is so frowned upon in many countries in the west and considered unacceptable within communities etc - in the west foreigners are encouraged to mix much more. Egyptian women are the ultimate global beauties - but they are modest and they don't appreciate their own beauty or strength on the whole! And they are stoic and strong! You will probably really admire their attitude and their resilience! Western women have a lot to learn from that...

Egypt has an amazing people - they are kind, tolerant and very pacifist.  They will treat you with respect and will make you feel welcome for as long as you are firm in your boundaries and show them that you respect them too.  Egyptians love children, the men worship and adore women and on the whole Egyptians have a strong, comforting union in religious faith. Moslems and Christians live side by side happily in Egypt.

Egypt is home to the most brilliant of minds - some of the best scientists and artists in the world.  All those thousands of years of intellect make it a culturally rich and interesting city and there is always something fantastic going on - exhibitions / concerts / cultural events etc etc.  Entertainment opportunities are truly amazing.

Egyptian society has aspects in its culture which is not always easy to explain and cannot be justified by religious teachings or anything else.  It is simply Egyptian.  No foreigner can possibly be expected to understand or justify such unique features of a different country and so sometimes you have to simply accept that that is accepted in this culture...you are in the minority... and so be it.

Like any place you go  -  there is good and bad.  You are in a slightly vulnerable position as a western woman so you must try to understand some of these cultural quirks and attitudes in order to avoid frustrations, depression phases, problematic relationships with Egyptian people or a wide variety of other possible problems - and try to understand some of the issues before you arrive.

I am certain that if your expectations are realistic  - you will have the time of your life.

    Good luck!

  12. welcome to egypt

whad exactly do u want to know???!!

  13. Yes, i live in Egypt. In Alexandria. It is really an amazing country. Every thing is found.

Whenever i meet a foreighn i ask them this question " What is the thing u like most in Egypt?"  Believe me 99% of the answers were " The people".

Good Luck and Welcome to Egypt!!
