Anyone live or been to Rheinland-Pfalz area of Germany?

Question

I am asking because it is part of an assignment which we were given a whopping two days to work on. My teacher asked us to try to contact someone and get some more personal info on the area, the kind of stuff that's not in Wikipedia I guess as part of a project on German states. I don't know any Germans so any help would be appreciated!

You might want to look up "Trier".  Germany's oldest city.  It has a lot of Roman remains and is a UNESCO world heritage site.

In the middle of Europe The state of Rheinland-Pfalz was formed after the end of World War II, on 30 August 1946, by the French military government. Traditional structures were not taken into account; instead parts of Germany were merged that had never before belonged together: parts of the Prussian Rhine provinces, the territory of Hesse on the left bank of the Rhine, and the strongly Bavarian-influenced Palatinate.

Products from the state of Rheinland-Pfalz are in high demand on both domestic and international markets. With an export rate of roughly 40 percent, it ranks first in this category among Germany's states. Its economy is remarkably diversified: Rheinland-Pfalz is a wine-growing center (two thirds of the country's wine comes from here) and an important wood producer as well as a major center of the chemical industry and a leading supplier of automobile components.

The differences between the idyllic river landscapes, the natural low mountain region, the historical towns and villages, romantic mountains as well as the well known wine regions give the vacation state of Rheinland-Pfalz its special charm.

The view upstream along the Rhine into the Bacharach Valley shows the picturesque wine town with St. Peter’s Church and the Werner Chapel in front on the left, and two of the town’s medieval towers farther back. Stahleck Castle dominates in front, towering above two other towers which once protected the town against potential attack from the direction of the Steeg valley.



In the background, the village of Rheindiebach and Fürstenberg Castle can be seen. Hessian Lorchhausen, a township of Lorch, is on the far side of the Rhine.

The green slope to its left forms part of the Engweger Kopf nature reserve whose varied ecosystems, ranging from arid slopes and vineyards to grassy meadows and dry forests, can be seen especially well from this location.



The lookout point above Bacharach cannot be accessed by car. A long, slightly steep footpath starts in Bacharach-Steeg and leads through the vineyards. However, the most beautiful way to reach our photographer’s location is to take the Rhine-Vineyard hiking path that starts in the township of Henschhausen and passes through the Henschhausen heath.

I just went to Germany last November. My mother lives in the Rheiland-Phalz area. She lives in Mackenbach, next to Keiserslautern, or Ramstein Missenbach.
