I don't know about spicy foods, but here's a list of other foods that dogs should not have:

  3. Chocolate contains theobromine and caffeine, both of which are bad for the heart and kidneys. It can be deadly in large doses, so while it should be OK in very small amounts it's best not to feed ANY - since it ruins their teeth and weight too!

Spicy foods are bad for their digestion, likely to give them diarrhoea.

It's not just a matter of what's toxic, it's also a matter of what just isn't healthy for your dog. Fruits are also bad for digestion and some can be toxic in larger amounts, including raisins and grapes. Again, it's just something your dog doesn't need.

  4. Here's a site that lists what foods are not good for your dog to eat.  Hope this helps.

  5. That stuff isn't even good for humans to eat.  Dogs should eat dog food, hence the name "dog" food.

I would think spicy food would give a dog the runs and heartburn.

As far as chocolate, it's toxic for dogs.

  6. Grapes and raisins are also bad. Don't chance it in any amount!

  7. Chocolate is supposed to be the equivalent of poison for dogs.  They cannot digest it properly.  I wouldn't risk it.  As for spicy foods, it may depend on the dog.  I think the unplesant gastric results would be a good reason to avoid feeding spicy food to your dog.

Some people supplement dog food with table scraps, but it is best to just get dog food of your preference (wet or dry) and stick to that.

  8. There are chemicals or ingredients in a lot of human food that is toxic to dogs.  Especially in chocolate, grapes, and onions - even a little bit can cause major problems for the dog.
