  1. Man you must be old. I don;t ever remember this happening, If it did it must have been pretty neat.

  2. I do. I have played at one course where I got to meet the pro but never had a chance to play

  3. That must have been pretty cool, Unfortunately I never got to experience something like that .

  4. I used to live in a small town (about 5000 people) and we had our little 9 hole course.  It was so great, you usually didn't even need a tee time, as long as there wasn't a tournament or anything going on.  The Pro (that's what we call him), still plays a regular game every day with a group of a dozen or so players.  Team best ball net.  Anyone is welcome to play, just throw in you $7 and tee it up.

Now I live in a much bigger "small" town (80,000) and the courses are packed with jerks every weekend.  I miss it terribly.

  5. Man do I ever miss those days.  When I was in high school (1965 -1968) I used to play at a beautiful public municipal course and it cost $3.50 DAILY FEE.  Which for those of you too young to have heard of such a thing meant that you could play all day for $3.50.  We walked, carried our clubs and always got in 36 holes, many time 45 and once 54 in a day.  Our home course for High School golf was owned by one of my teamates grandparents.  We were welcome there all year round and rarely paid.  It wasn't just about them trying to make as much money as they could back then, of course their expenses were less than today.  I still play with the pro at my home course now - but he doesn't find all that much time to play with all his other duties.
