Recently started to fish shaky head with jackall's flick and shake lures. I seem to miss alot of bass when setting the hook, and the hook seems to set on the outside of fishes mouth. Has anyone noticed the same problem

  1. that happened when i was fishing of a little cliff about 5 feet high and i go the fish out of the water and i fell of i think i because the has to swallow to whole worm of eat it from the front because it hook is at the front of the shaky head

  2. I haven't finesse fished since last winter, but even then I didn't have that problem. I also wasn't using the flick shake! I use Strike King shakey heads and really don't have problems with missing a lot of fish. I have missed some, but I've missed some on everything! I would try wacky rigging a senko with a regular wide gap finesse hook and see if there's a difference.

  3. A trick I have learned with finesse lures and other lures such as top water is the give the fish time to take it in. Even when fishing a texas rig I had to train myself to NOT set the hook automatically as with crank baits or jigging.  I usually give a  thousand-one thousand-two count before setting the hook and I have been more productive in landing fish
