  1. Im moving to the netherlands in less than a week from the US. My family is from there and I've visited and love it. Im only doing a temporary move, 6 months, for school, but definitely excited about it.

Travel as much as financially possible when you're young

    :)

positives: quiet, but interesting night life, different set of "values" over there, into bikes not cars, slower paced living, good often healthy/fresh food, not bad weather, friendly people, english speaking

cons: gas is expensive..ten bucks a gallon... and as much as i love the netherlands, its not..well, its not america. i love our country..

  2. I don't want to put a dampener on your plans but this question does crop up in the section quite a bit

As an American at entry level, your biggest hurdle will be to get a visa which will allow you to live (work)here.  This is the biggest -ive as it is really difficult to get this unless you have a relationship with an EU national, are studying here or have a right to obtain an EU passport.

If & when you can get this - then you can start the planning and assessing, but it is important to assess it would be a reality for you first.

I answered a similar question not so long ago, so (to save re-typing) you can read the details here, and hope this helps
