Question:

Anyone musicians or audio engineers out there? Keyboard/MIDI controller & drum machine in one?

I recently invested in my own home recording studio set-up. The only two pieces of equipment I have yet to get is a drum machine and a decent keyboard/midi controller. I have a couple of keyboards, but both are cheap rinky-dink radioshack items and I don't have the MIDI installation disk for either of them. In attempts to save money, I was hoping to maybe purchase a MIDI controller that can also serve as a drum machine. Does such a thing exist, and if so, any recommendations? Thanks.

  1. I've another suggestion, it will make your way shorter and easier

Korg K series, MIDI controller that runs easily with ASIO for all (eliminates the lags) on CoolEditPro, CuBASE

    Korg K25 to K61..

M-Audio also have great MIDI controllers and they are not really so epensive, i think it's 140 EURO, i've bought one and it's great.

Well, only the labels will be beneficent for you :) sorry if it's not helpful.

    Best of Luck

  2. well, the purpose of a midi controller is to play 'digital' instruments.

in other words, instruments on your computer (pianos, strings, etc).

any decent midi software should have drum kits included.

btw, midi controllers are practically useless without a computer with midi software.

so make sure you have that.

keyboards are different though, they can work without computers.

a midi controller will be at least $100; my buddy has this one:

i dont know if you already have software, but mixcraft is probably the cheapest you can go without getting a pile of c**p.

    i hope i helped.
