  1. I have pleasant memories of some of the suggestions above, having worked in Germany! One suggestion for "unusual" would be Zwiebelkuchen (Onion Tart)....I'd ordered a slice of this before my German was good enough to know what "Zwiebel" was, having sampled other varieties of "Kuchen" (cake!)...(tip-it should be served heated.. :)

) Another would be Kartoffelpuffer mit apfelmuss-a type of potato and onion pancake served with apple puree. (Hash browns come close to this..)

If You like cake,You're in for a treat...Cafes Have an amazing selection available.

  2. Well Stuttgart has a lot swabian food (schwäbisch) such as Kässpätzle (Swabian cheese noodles),Maultaschen (Swabian ravioli),Flädlesuppe (Pancake soup) or Linsen und Spätzle (Lentils and Spaetzle and vienna sausage)

  3. The most typical food around Stuttgart is Schwäbische Maultaschen are known and enjoyed the world over. You may use your imagination when it comes to mixing the ingredients, but spinach is a „must“. The filling for the pasta pockets consists of spinach, onions, sausage, eggs, parsley and spices. They are served in classic consomme or braised with onions.

Stuttgart is situated in one of Germany’s great wine growing regions and vineyards reach right into the heart of the city. The most popular wine is the ruby red Trollinger, which is exclusively grown in Württemberg. Trollinger is served in the traditional „broom taverns“, which hang a broom in front of the entrance door, denoting that they are „open for business“. Usually most chairs are taken, so there is a cosy, atmosphere. The taverns own home made wine is enjoyed together with Swabian culinary specialties. The host enhances his guests’ good cheer by playing his mouth organ or harmonica.

  4. They eat meat and cheese for breakfast in Germany (sometimes)

Sauerkraut - a kind of cabbage.

Stollen  - type of Christmas Cake

  5. Weiss wurst! Es Schmeckt mir sehr gut!!!! Und curry wurst. Ach der Himmel!!

  6. If your looking for something unusual look for saumagen. Its usually only served in the most traditional German resteraunts. Saumagen is an assortment of pork, potatoes, and carrots and spices cooked in a pigs stomach. Similar to Scottish Haggis. It sounds bad but its actually quite good.
