Anyone notice that aftertaste in plastic/metal containers after you place juice in it? How to get rid of it?

I had this plastic container once, we keep mixing up juice there. Eventually, when we placed water again, the water ended up with this terrible juice aftertaste.

The same goes for Aluminum Containers.

Somehow, the aftertaste effect is only noticable if you keep the flavored liquid in it for a long time.

Does anybody know how to prevent this?

A solution to it would also be nice.

Rinsing and washing didn't do much of anything.

  1. I'm not sure about the plastic, but you shouldn't store juice in aluminum.. especially not citrusy juice.

Acidic things shouldn't be stored in metal, it breaks down the metal and.. it's just.. bad. Some acids react with some metals and not all acids react with all metals. It all depends on what is reacting with what. However, assuming there is a reaction, the acid will dissolve the metal to produce the metal salt of that acid; at the same time it will produce hydrogen gas.
