Question:

Anyone noticed Steak & Shake Chili Mac has shrunk?

We went to Steak & Shake the other night and ordered Chili Macs and we were shocked at the small portion we got. Two Chili Macs would make what one serving was before. I gave mine to my brother and just sat there and ate nothing. When I voiced my complaint to the cashier, she said they had been getting other complaints about portion size. I know the price of pasta has gone up, but you could hardly call what we got an entree. It was more like a side dish. One would not make a meal. It was just a little handful of spaghetti. What's more, they served it on a very small shallow plate and put one plate on top of another to make it look bigger. I was so angry, I don't think I'll go back to Steak & Shake. They lost me as a customer.

  1. In response to "Craig S" above me, quality versus quantity is an attribute of a fine dining establishment, a five star restaurant etc. Although I'm Canadian and not familiar with Steak and Shake whatsoever, it sounds like a franchised family restaurant, similar to Boston Pizza, or some other chain that you have in the US. If this is the case, it would be a place you would go if you were hungry, but not in the mood for a greasy fast food burger. Being the case, quality over quantity is hardly admirable, save it for the Ritz.
