Can you tell me a little bit about what you do? Also, is there room for advancing into other marketing positions if you start out as a p.c.? Do you earn a good living? What are the drawbacks or advantages of being a p.c.?

  1. Production Coordination in an ad agency or graphic design firm usually involves coordinating the job schedule from date 'in'; to date delivered.

You need to be highly organized, time-oriented, quality conscious, customer service oriented ... in fact, perfect and demanding perfection on behalf of your internal and external customers.  I am not a production coordinator but I've have excellent production coordinators work for me and the best ones go on to production management.

Pay really depends on the size of the organization you work for and your skills and experiences:  West Coast, Canada a PC starting out would earn between $36,000 and $45,000 per year (again depending on education and skill set).

Drawbacks are high stress (but what job doesn't come with stress) and sometimes having to deal with things outside of your control (client is late sending in the files but still expects the catalogue printed on time).

Advantages are that it is the type of job where you can learn a lot; you will not be bored; there is opportunity for advancement.

    Good luck.
