  1. Yes, I am. I was and still am in special ed. It can suck at times, and other times be wonderful.

  2. Yes. I'm dyslexic at times. I have other disabilities as well, but they don't show up in my nursing school work! I'm pretty lucky though. I can read and write equally well. As you can tell. I had special tutoring and therapies to help.

I learned to adapt to my disabilities. It's the only thing to do.

  3. My daughter and I are both dyslexic, we also have with dyscalculia (maths) and my daughter also has dysgrahpia (writing).

I did not learn to read until 14, I failed high school and had to take on manual jobs, because I had so much trouble with reading. I still have issues with reading, I also hate homophones (similar sounding words) as I always mix them up, when writing etc. I found out I was dyslexic when my daughter was diagnosed, I learnt as much as I could about dyslexia, and then found and developed some strategies to help my daughter through school, I then used these strategies on myself, to gain a better education and employment.

It has been very difficult and frustrating, but also very rewarding going back to school as an adult, and I am now a qualified Youth & Disability support worker and a sessional teacher, with a special interest in learning disabilities, in particularly dyslexia.
