Hi

I am 5ft 1 and 16 nearly 17 stone i have had 4 children and the last 2 only had 10 months apart they are both 2 at the moment.

I suffer with depression and my Doctor says to wait to try and loose weight but it makes me feel worse about myself also my 6 year old gets teased by his peers because of my weight, i try and make light of it saying i have to be big because i have to cuddle all 4 of you.

I have never had a weight problem until i had the children and i have pleaded with my Doctor to help so any advice would be great

I eat healthily 3 meals a day i don't snack i drink water and the odd cup of tea i do smoke but i don't drink alcohol. i don't drive so i walk everywhere pushing a huge double buggy.

i was thinking about slimming tablets but don't know where to start.

Please help.

  1. I feel your pain. I went through something similar after I had my children and I was almost 40 before my thyroid condtion was diagnosed.  You may not have a thyroid condition, but make sure that is checked.

It sounds like you need to find a way to get some consistent exercise.  I know wiht four kid you get exercise, but it is not the same as a good exercise routine.  And exercise will make you feel better overall.  Make a few small changes - try to go for a walk everyday, always use stairs instead of elevators, walk on escalators, use a pedometer. Walking 10,000 steps a day is a really good idea. Build up to a long brisk walk everyday, or most days.

Start a weight lifting routine. I know that you probably can't find the time to join a gym but a couple of the links I've included explain how you can do it at home using things around the house.  It will help increase your metabolism and make you feel and look better in so many ways.  Invest in a good weight training book for beginners and research it on the Internet.  Weight lifting will increase your metabolism as well as improve posture and appearance and your  overall sense of well being.

In terms of diet, you need a very nutritious diet to make sure you are getting all the nutrients you need.  You have a busy and stressful life.  Cut out or reduce things like junk food, pop, fat, fast food. Eat more fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean meat, fish.   Particularly if you choose a vegetarian lifestyle include natural peanut butter, hummus, dried fruit and nuts.  Pay close attention to getting the nutrients your body needs to be healthy.  Drink plenty of water, at least 8 big glasses a day, and more if it is very hot, it you sweat a lot, or if you are exercising intensely. You will begin to see changes in your body.

Check out websites about nutrition, exercise, weight training, etc.  Here are a couple of helpful links.

  2. Please don't use slimming tablets.  At best their effect will be temporary, and at worst they can cause you harm.

It sounds like you're trying all the right things, but perhaps need to tweak what you do.  I would suggest consulting a nutrionist.  Your doctor should be able to recommend a good one.  That person will sit down with you to discuss specifics of what to eat and not eat, and you'll lose weight in a gradual and healthy manner.

If you have time, it would also be a good idea to have a few personal workout training sessions with a qualified trainer.

Finally, look for a support group of friends or family who are positive, caring and understanding when you need to vent or talk... or maybe spend time with (I know that as a mom, that is difficult).  Try to take some time for yourself though, you deserve it!

Best of luck, and don't give up. :-)

  3. •Here you go. It is not that hard to lose weight. You simply have to burn more calories than you take in.

Don’t less all this blow confuse you remember all you have to do to lose weight is to burn more calories than you take in.

I weight about 210which means I must eat about 2500 cal a day to maintain weight. To cut fat I drop down to 1900 cal a day, eating every 2 or 3 hours, this will keep your metabolisam up. Every meal revolving around protein. I only eat complex carbs, no refined carbs (ex look at the ingredients in bread if it is enriched or bleached then it is not 100% wheat) I also don’t eat carbs after2 o’clock. As for cardio I do HITT training (Google that) HITT will allow you to burn fat while maintaining muscle. I also do some weights 3 times a week. if you don’t want to work out or work out so much you simply must eat less because you are not working out to expend the cal. Weights are good because muscle building will actually burn muscle.

Breakfast Cereal with low fat milk and Low cal protein shake( muscle milk light or gold standard whey)

mid morning snake" Nuts of some sort, or maybe some cheese( I can’t think of other good snakes right now)

Lunch: Sandwich with 100%whole wheat bread veggies and some kind of meat with low % fat (you want to stay away from fat) keep it blow say 10% or even lower when it comes to meat

Mid afternoon snack ( some kind of snack loaded with protein like nuts or another protein shake if you can handle that)

Dinner ( don’t eat a big dinner) Lean source of protein like chicken, lean ground beef, top sirloin stake,

bedtime if you go to bed around 10 and need a snack eat some low fat cottage cheese around 9 or so

I think this diet can get you started but you need to find out what cal intake you need. There are web sites that can assist with that according to your weight and activity level.

  4. Don't bother with any sort of pills.  Pick up a copy of the book Body For Life by Bill Phillips, it'll show you everything you have to do to transform not only your body, but your entire life

  5. know what dance for 1 hour every morning...just dance with a good dancing music. to really make you sweat. and if you have time to go to gym...have time for it. Make it as your free time. but dance so you will enjoy it. 1 hour every morning.....good luck....so many have tried pills and i think it doesn't work...cause if it does...100 percent will be the result no negative to pills.  before sleeping i want you to drink black tea with squeeze of lemon....it will do honey...every night. good luck
