Anyone over 25 had their tonsils out?

Anyone over the age of 25 have their tonsils out? I'm 28 and I hear its pretty painful. I go get mine out in 2 weeks. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Im 22 and I just had my tonsils out about 6 months ago. I don't know how much of a difference from 22 to 28 it is but it took me about 3 weeks to feel 100% better. The first week was painful and I could hardly eat, just drank liquids and sherbet. Some days I didnt eat anything at all because I was in so much pain and the medication made me drowsy. It seemed like so much work to eat that I would rather just go to sleep. They give you some good medication that makes it feel better but it still hurts to eat. The second week was still painful but not as bad, I could manage foods like applesauce or mashed potatoes. Near the end of the 2nd week I ate more real foods like burgers or pizza but I had to be careful and take tiny bites and chew it up real good so I didnt choke. Week 3 I could eat real food and not be in pain or have to be careful. I hope everything goes well! Good Luck!

32 when I got mine out. Really painful.  Take your pain medicine every 4 hours. Dont wait for the pain to get real bad.  Drink plenty of fluids no matter how bad it hurts.  It only hurts real bad ofr the first couple of days. It gets better for awhile and starts to hurt worse than ever about 2 weeks later when the scabs fall off.  Sorry to be so blunt but it really sucks!!!!!!!!!!
