My husband step cousin was found deceased in her office and she is young (27?). We have heard it may have been an ativan overdose. Can anyone tell me about this type of experience 1st person?

  1. Wow, that's scary. I take Ativan, 1mg tablets 4 times a day. Sometimes i take two at a time, i have even taken 3 at once, but i have never had a problem with it. My mother is also on it, and i think she has taken up to four, and not had any problems. I think you would need to take a good bit, or have a low tolerance for them in the first place. Like most narcotics it can cause drowsiness, or breathing problems. I'm sorry to hear, you have my condolences.

I don't know if this helps, but my sisters rat was dying of tumors, she was in pretty bad shape. My sister wanted to put it out of it's misery, so i gave her one of my Ativan. She gave the rat the whole pill, and it had no ill effects, the rat didn't die from the Ativan.

Also, a lot of times with narcotics in pill form, you will throw them up before you can overdose, they can be very tough on the stomach.

  2. Wow. I guess I was really lucky.Tried to OD on sleeping pills, fell asleep, don't know how long I was asleep but the phone rang, kinda surpising but it actually woke me up. I couldn't walk, but I knew I was gonna throw up and I was conscious enough to not wanna make a mess in the bed I was hoping to die in, so I crawled into the bathroom and threw up in there and managed to crawl back into bed where I passed out till the next day. The next day I woke up, and other than feeling like I had a hangover I was fine. This was several years ago and it has had no long term effects on me. It was extremely scary though when I woke up the first time and I couln't walk.

  3. Well it wasnt an ativan overdose, but it was an ibuprofen overdose. i was trying to commit suicide. i took 20 of them and managed to live threw it. but i was throwing up and ended up passing out. it was not fun.

  4. For me it was an overdose of sleeping pills, I sure fell asleep. But I didn't like waking up in a hospital on life support machines...
