Question:

Anyone own a Green-Cheek Conure?

I'm thinking about buying a GCC and want to know exactly how loud they can get and what their temperament is like. I know Sun Conures are supposed to be a little more playful/friendly, but I also hear they're extremely loud in the mornings and evenings. Any advice here?

  1. i own a year old green cheek conure. they are amazing pets, they arent that loud. they are soooo playful. find out about these different types of conures here. i would really recommend them as pets, they have massive personalities in such a small bird!! good luck with your choice but  i personally advise the green cheeked over the sun conure.

  2. I just got a 4/5yr old GCC myself 2wks ago.She/he is pretty quiet in my opinion. It really surprised me how quiet she is.Mine like to be very social. They're very inquizative with thier surroundings. She doesn't talk like my mini parrot does, but she does softly grumble in my ear.She also has a pearceing screetch when she's unhappy(holding her in our hands making her get petted (used to being handled). She also will whisle like the word surr-uup.It's not very loud either. The bite can/will draw blood too. After all they are in the hookbill family.when she bites us,she grinds her beck.We just say/yell No and pull our hands away. She's learning pretty good, if you ask me.Conures love to take baths. They also love to snuggle. To make your bird more comfortable and safe feeling you need to buy a bird snuggle thing. They're made out of fuzzy material in the shap of a triangle and hang(mine loves hers) and a mirror and toys.Make sure you get a conure pellet diet and make sure you feed it fresh Fruits and Vegies.Study up and learn all you can.You want this bird to be around as long and healthly as possible.knowledge is power.

In my opinion I think a GCC is a very good choice for a playful bird who is a part of the family. It takes time to train a bird but the rewards are well worth it.Good luck and injoy your new family member.
