  1. My parents cat does and has had a heart murmur for years.  He is 5 years old and still going strong.  I'm pretty sure that they never have had him treated, just feed him good food and give him plenty of love.  I think he will live for a long time :)

  2. One of my cats had heart disease, unfortunately diagnosed after she had an aneurysm.  She was in heart failure prior, as diagnosed by ultra sounds and x-rays of her heart and lungs.  She had excessive fluid around her heart and lungs, with aggressive treatment an 2 weeks in ICU she got better, only to have an aneurysm that caused a saddle thrombosis.

My cat was 13 when she started showing signs of heart disease, it was never picked up in her regular vet checks, the vet said if it was caught earlier there was effective treatments.  I would talk to more than one vet if need be.

    hope this is helpful
