Anyone own an answering machine?

Just would like to know if I need to contact my local telephone company to hook it up? Thanks for everyone who answers.

  1. I have set up peoples answering machines for them, but only if there are not that many repair calls for that day... phone techs are not responsible tor any equiptment that you connect to the phone line... and in most cases will not help you set up your equiptment. aside from that, there is an expensive service charge for a phone tech to come out to your house, as even if you have wire maintenance  , this is not something that would be covered with the maintenance  , there is nothing wrong with your line...

    it should work out of the box, just connect the phone line, and power, and read the manual on how to set up your greetings, and date and time...


  2. Nope, just hook it up through the phone line, then take another line to your phone, set up a message (or just leave the automated one) and you're set!

  3. I got one. No need to call phone company. Put one phone cord from wall to machine, and another from machine to phone.
